Horses deserve a better record than a group chat
Buying a horse means trusting a stranger about an animal you will own for fifteen years. Lope On exists to put something solid underneath that.
Why we built it
The way horses change hands has not really changed. An advert with four photos and a phone number. A four-hour drive. A conversation in a yard where you try to work out, on the spot, whether the vaccination history is real and whether the papers match the horse standing in front of you.
Then the horse sells, and everything that was known about it — the surgery in 2019, the year off, the trainer who started it, the vet who knows its feet — evaporates. The next owner starts from nothing. Do that three or four times and a fifteen-year-old horse has no history at all.
That is the problem worth fixing, and it is not fixed by another classifieds site. It is fixed by giving the horse a record that outlives any one owner.
What Lope On is
A marketplace where you can research a horse properly before you get in the truck, and a place where the horse’s papers, health records, competition results and ownership history live permanently. Around that sit the things horse people actually need: haulers, farriers, vets, trainers, barns, and a way to talk to each other without handing out a phone number.
What it is not
It is not a social network, and the feed is deliberately small. It is not an escrow service — we do not touch the money. And it is not in the business of implying we have checked something we have not. That last one matters more than any feature.

The record belongs to the horse
Previous owners stay in the history. A record that the current owner can quietly rewrite is not worth keeping.
You decide what is public
Every field and every document is yours to set. Nothing gets shared because a default was convenient for us.
Say what we know, plainly
No badge that implies more than was checked. No “verified” without a sentence explaining what that covered.
Plain language, everywhere
It is “Add a horse”, not “Initialise equine record”. Horse people are busy and their hands are cold.
Where we are
This is a beta
Lope On is early. The marketplace, ReinPass, messaging, ownership transfer, transport and the services directory all work. Verification is being rolled out carefully, because a trust badge that means nothing is worse than no badge at all.
Payments are switched off. Everything on Lope On is free right now and there is no card to enter anywhere.
